I feel that the best quality cages are definitly at pet co. i think that you should be able to actually look at the cage and accessories before buying them, when you are looking on the internet, looks can be decieving. if you REALLY want to go on the internet, ebay would probably have to be the best because you can see the picture. if you choose to go to ebay, then contact that person if they dont describe what you are seeing enough.
i have had 4 rats at 1 time who absolutley were comfortable in a big cage( that didn't cost 2 much) and some grey bedding. just look for a cage that is good length and height to keep him/her satisfied. hampsters are pretty tiny so it should be too hard. good luck!

I'm a small animal rescuer and I buy all my cages from cheappetstore.com, they have free shipping on orders over $39. I use Critter Care brand litter, it's cheaper then Care Fresh sold in pet stores and I can also buy it at Wal Mart. I use Super Pet brand plastic bottom with wire tops only and have saved over $800 with them over pet store prices.

www.petsmart.com however dont go beserk with stuff. we put toilet paper rolls and twigs in our hamster habitat. she lives in a cute cage we bought at petsmart ($26), it came with a wheel. but other than that we make her toys. they actually like it better. i've had mice that i spent $80 on a bunch of junk they chewed up!! lol so now it's old wipey boxes to sleep in, toilet paper rolls, clothes pins to drag around and chew. good luck!
