I'm wondering if people who are offending by cussing are offended by my practice on this site, with is to get around the filters (which make a cuss-word all asterisks) by substituting asterisks for vowels.

Am also wondering if all cuss words are offensive.

So, are you offended by seeing

h*ll
sh*t
d*mn
s*cks (as in "It really s*cks when people don't explain their questions adaquetly.")

I don't do that for the f word, but instead type freakin' or friggin'

Do these practices offend?

E: On the DL? On the dyslexic level? On the dorky loveliness? DL? Translation, please. On the downside lobotomy? On the dufus lemur?

I was REALLY hoping that those who ARE offended by cuss-words would answer.

Please?

Pretty please, with sugar on top?

Anyone? (Who's offended by bad words, that is.)

Oh, dear. I did get more answers, except one from someone not offended, and another, by someone who is (my target "demographic") who didn't answer my question.

If you're someone offended by cuss-words, is it offensive to you to see such things as h*ll on this site?

I am offended by cussing even if it is not directed at me, and also there are other ways and other words that can be used, even p*ss*d, cr*p, G*d, J*s*s, used Improperly.

Yes even if the asterisks bug me... I have grown up knowing that these words are not to be used in work place, among family, or with relatives around... And most of all NEVER Used among your Girlfriend, or Significant Other!

Even on this site is it wrong to cuss!

It doesn't "offend" me, but i just think that it sounds kind of low life.. You come off sounding like an uneducated redneck when you use cuss words as every other word in your vocabulary. The occasional cuss word isn't so bad though.

I agree with the girl's statement above. Keep the cuss words on the DL around children.

No offense at all. They are words with a legitimate function of aiding expression. All that can really offend is peoples' ideas, and plenty of those come out minus cussing. For example, "All minorities should die." Hmmm. I'd be much less offended by somebody saying "F***ing chiropractor made my back worse!" Make sense?

I dont cuss. I think it is stupid, because at my school kids cuss all of the time. They say the F word around 20 times a day. It gets really old, they are just trying to look cool in front of the other kids. Thats why dont like it.

For me, I am more offended by people who :
- Answer my question by attacking the person (me) just to make their answer sounds legit (You lack wisdom that's why you ask that stupid question)
- Imposing logical fallacy as to make his/her answer as the ONLy correct answer (Your question is exactly why you are wrong)
- Write a long wordy answer but the content has nothing to do with the question (not really answering the question but starting his/he own lecture)

Words can be replaced. Brain damage, that's another thing.

I am only offended by cursing when children are around. The rest of the time it doesn't bother me unless of course you are cussing me out. Then I'd probably be a little pissed off. :>)
