i dont think many people do anymore at the risk of seeming tight. im thinking of doing a project at uni where everyone has to pick up every penny they see and put in a charity box that'll be kept at uni. is this a good idea or will people think its lame and not bother?

I used to pick up pennies and believed that they could bring me good luck. I grew out of that and now I just can't be bothered to bend down anymore, you can't do anything with a penny these days. If it was a pound then yes I would definitely bend over. As for your idea of putting it in a charity box in your uni, I think it is a very good idea.

I allways pick up pennies in the street it's good luck and you never know one day you might buy something from the shop and be a penny short.

I too, pick up pennies. It's not a being-cheap thing, for me it's a "luck" thing. You know...."Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck." I'm not overly superstitious, but why push the envelope.

Anyway, I think that's a wonderful idea. If I were there I would participate. Maybe you could hand out little coin-bank boxes for people to fill up and then they could bring them all to one central location. Kinda like they do in Sunday School classes

Come to think of it, I do pick
up coins when I find them.
I have never thought of saving
them and giving them to charity.
It may not add up to much, but
if everyone did it, it sure would.

I still do it and put it in a jar and when it is full I give it to charity. it's amazing how much money is lying about.
