I used to pick up pennies and believed that they could bring me good luck. I grew out of that and now I just can't be bothered to bend down anymore, you can't do anything with a penny these days. If it was a pound then yes I would definitely bend over. As for your idea of putting it in a charity box in your uni, I think it is a very good idea.

I too, pick up pennies. It's not a being-cheap thing, for me it's a "luck" thing. You know...."Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck." I'm not overly superstitious, but why push the envelope.
Anyway, I think that's a wonderful idea. If I were there I would participate. Maybe you could hand out little coin-bank boxes for people to fill up and then they could bring them all to one central location. Kinda like they do in Sunday School classes

An excellent idea.
I don't bother picking up pennies, but if there was something like that around, I would

Come to think of it, I do pick
up coins when I find them.
I have never thought of saving
them and giving them to charity.
It may not add up to much, but
if everyone did it, it sure would.
