Believe it or not, but Karen Grassle was NOT close to Michael Landon, even during the filming of "Little House On The Praire". Michael Landon was known as a "perfectionist" and severely berated everyone on the set, all except Melissa Gilbert, (Laura), who he thought of as a Daughter. Karen Grassle was reduced to tears several times during the filming of the show and would NOT speak with Michael Landon during takes. These incidents were widely reported all through-out the filming of the "Little House" series during the 70's and early 80's.
SIDE FACT: Melissa Gilbert loved Michael Landon so much and thought of him as a Father, so much so, that she named her Son "Michael" in honor of Michael Landon.

She has said that she was not as close with Michael Landon, but she did speak to him shortly before his death in 1991.
