My husband and I have been trying to concieve for many years now. We were both tested and the Dr. said that I do not ovulate. But I do have the occassional (very rare) period. (When I do, however, they are just spottish and only last a day or two, at the most.) So doesn't that mean that I must be ovulating at least every so once in awhile?
Is there anything herbal remedy wise that can up the amount I ovulate? My Dr. put me on the pill several times over the past few years, to try to regulate my periods and it works for a little bit but the moment i am taken off of the pill to try to get pregnant, the periods stop again. We are beyond frustrated. :(
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly you can ovulate without menstruating and menstruate without ovulating.

If you have done ovulation testing via either blood, urine or saliva and you do not ovulate then there are things you can do. If you wish to go the herbal route you need to speak to someone qualified. They will likely run tests. I can't tell you what herbs will work for you, because I don't know why you aren't ovulating.

If you wish to go the medical route then you need to see a different doctor. There are many prescription drugs besides the pill that cause ovulation. Your current doctor obviously is NOT helping. See another doctor -preferably a fertility specialist.

Obviously you can use both herbs and doctors, that is your choice.

However if you ARE ovulating and still not getting pregnant there are of course different herbs and different medical treatments. Of course then you will still need a qualified herbalist/naturopath and a different doctor.

Also if you are ovulating find a doctor that will treat you for macrophages, this is a really new treatment, but luckily friends of mine after 7 years of fertility treatment switched doctors before giving up. Their new doctor was involved in researching this treatment, they now have a 10 month old. Macrophages are similar to bacteria or viruses, but I think they are bigger. The treatment is a course of pills, it is said to be very safe.

Best of luck.

i can fully understand your frustration.i would suggest going to a Chinese herbalist, they may recommend that you have acupuncture...but can also treat you with herbs etc.... also a lot of things are available to help with ovulation on line. but the first thing you need to do is test to see if your eggs are still OK... you can buy a reasonably priced fertility test that you can use at home, such as baby start bio-check that checks for raised fsh levels or fertell, which is more expensive at around sixty pounds, and available on line or at boots(if your in UK) stress etc and unbalanced hormones can also delay your periods and ovulation.. you should maybe speak again to your doctor and explain that you want to get pregnant, and ask him to arrange blood tests etc.... good luck!

Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Calcium, Yams, grapefruit, Raspberry leaf tea and Ice Cream are all things that I have read by searching Google in the past few weeks. Personally, I am trying the B6 200mg, Calcium 1000mg, Prenatal Vitamins that have 1mg Folic Acid, and the ice cream. You only drink the tea during your period, so I haven't tried it yet and I hat yams and grapefruit, but I'm trying!

I'm sure you may get answers but herbs rarely correct major problems. I would talk to your doctor about Clomid.
