It's just like when you are having a conversation with someone and they don't hear what you are saying because they are so consumed with what they want to say.
People are more interested in hearing themselves talk, than in listening to anyone else.

Maybe they just wanted the two points for answering a question. You never know. Perhaps they were the types or people who prefer "talking" to "listening" and were really just chomping at the bit to broadcast an opinion. That's now what Answers should be about but there will always be a group messing things up. The other possibility is that they just didn't understand what you meant by your details. If I don't understand a question after details have been added, I just don't answer that particular question.

I posted a hypothetical question about polygamy and what the Bible says on the subject, and more than a third of the posters talked about gay people. While I didn't edit, the tag line was "Biblically speaking, is marriage exclusively between one man and one woman" with the explaination asking for Bible specifics regarding marriage and polygamy.
I did get some great answers out of the people who actually read it, however. It was funny to have to thumbs-down five people just so I didn't have to keep reading their non-responses while picking a best answer.
I also had the opposite problem--someone asked a confusing question, a few posters answered what we thought he asked, and he gave us all thumbs down. Once he explained what he wanted, two of us edited and gave an appropriate answer, but since he gave us thumbs down, he never saw it--our edits were hidden from him.

I think a lot of people are more interested in getting points. They just answer as many questions as they can and they don't pay attention to the whole thing.

Yes. It can be annoying I know. I am guilty of not answering some of the questions within a question. I try to answer the main question and let it go from there.

maybe, they dont understand the question at all or they dont know the answer. they just want to get points so they answer the way they want. poor them. they should view this exchange
of opinions as a learning experience coming from "real people"

A rush to judgment; an interest in voicing over listening; laziness

could be their impatience or they could be incredibly forgetful, they could be reading the posts as fast as they can and be missing the added details, or they simply want to get as many answers answered asap so they can get the title for the most frequent best answers.

Well they just wanted to help you figure out what's the solution to your problem
you may attribute that to your unsubstantial question.
