Named after town hamburg in germany. Probably invented there. Burg means town in deutsch, I think.

The call Hamburger has not something to do with beef of pork, yet from the city of Hamburg in Germany. the 1st pork patties have been made by using German imigranrts to usa of america attempting to recreate the German Frickadellen, that's a spiced minced meat pattie, fried and served traditionally in a roll with coleslaw.
