you should hope so. then you can threaten to sue for physical abuse, and seeing how he/she's in a position of authority, you will keep your job instead of losing it, as you should after a no call/no show.

Any threat of physical violence on the part of an employer is unethical and usually illegal. Actual physical violence is called "assault and battery" and can get your erstwhile employer deluxe accommodations paid for by the state.

In most states, three days of no call, no show is termed "job abandonment" and results in the termination of your employment.

Good grief, who do you work for? Of course they aren't allowed to physically harm you, however, I am quite sure that they can fire you.

If you belong to a union, you may have some recourse, but the best way to keep a job is to go to work and act like you need it.

Good luck.

Do you work for the mob?
What kind of an employer would do that?
You may get fired, but I don't see a physical altercation in your future

Where do you live? They do not dare put their hands on you if you live in the US unless he/she want to be charged with assault and battery. As for your job, kiss it goodbye.
