I had the same sympoms as you. I guess your problem will either be electrical or fuel.

I will outline the fuel side. I found my fuel filter to be dirty (actually blocked would be the word as it looked like it was set in concrete). This filter was located inside the tank. However the symptoms continued. On advice I removed the tank, had it cut open. Inside it was rusty and filled with dirt. It was cleaned and an anti rust resin applied. But still the symptoms continued. I found another fuel filter up near the motor...this was replaced and the car never missed a beat again.

Basically years of dirt and rust had accumulated in the tank and blocked two fuel filters in the system. No more fuel could get through and the car would stop. After five minutes it would start again as enough fuel had seeped throught the filters.

If you could get a fuel pressure guage fitted near the car or injectors you would be able to see if you were losing pressure when the car started to stop.

Start by replacing the filters that may be enought to get you going.

If you remove the filler cap, is there a noticeable "whoosh" (well, you know what I mean!)? It could be the tank breather pipe is blocked, then it builds up a vacuum in the tank & stops the flow of fuel, cured when enough air has managed to leak back in to relieve the vacuum.

There are so many things that could cause your car to cut off. I guess I would need a little more information on the circumstances.
