I'm doing a presentation and need to find information about the way men and women come up with personal short and long term goals, and how they come up with career goals.

You can't decide this just by gender, it depends a lot on the person, some women make goals thinking about having a family someday, others want to succeed in their careers. The same goes for men, some of them are very family oriented and try to suceed thinking about children someday. I think in general you could say women tend to have their families in mind but that's not always the case.

It comes down to the focus points: i.e. men are about the job because that is where their significance comes from. Ladies have a part in them that thinks/feels about family. This is not bad, it just is!
So the mans' goals are providing for the HOUSEHOLD, whereas women are concerned for the family. Get the difference?

well in my sociology class I learned that men tend to get majors in science/math related fields. And that they want to make a lot of money and are willing to work long hours. While women take jobs that are more low-paying nurturing jobs becuase of the way that they are. Also major in liberal arts and social sciences, or education. Women want a career but not one that will make you work long hours. Also family comes first usually women will want to leave for a temporary or wil leave completely to have a family and take care of them.

Read the book Rich Woman by Kim Kiyosaki. There are some good quotes, ideas and explanations of the difference between men and women goal objectives.

Men tend to compete with other men, I would have thought. I think women probably tend to set their own agendas.
