Like all sayings, partially. It's true some of the time, and other times not. It's a saying, it's not absolute truth. Nothing is.

That really depends on who's asking the question and what they're referring to. Sometimes people say this just as a 'cop-out' to make a mistake or a poor performance less important. Often this phrase can be very true, however - if someone actually means it, then it's largely the same as saying "it's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts", or "it doesn't matter how well you do as long as you do your best". Although some people may not agree with this as a sentiment, there are some things that some people will never be able to do, and in that case all that matters is that they try!

Its true some times but not all of the time. If you want to impress somebody then what you said is true. For example, if you are in a basket bal competition on dunking then how you dunk the ball matters. Its a crowed pleaser. If you work in a lab where nobody sees you then the important thing is that it gets done to some standard.
If this refer to behavior then it is true. Is not what you say but how you say it. Or your body language. In short it depends on the situation. Sometimes things require a certain way of doing it. Other times is doing it and gettng it done that really matters.

This I find to be very true! As all people live their lives, but some live better than the some other; and I have seen different people doing the same things but some do better than some others. What is the difference?
But I do not quite agree with the first part of the statement, as there are things that one simply cannot find a better way of doing, as there could be things that one might not find a bad way of doing. This could lead us into the ongoing debate of what is right and what is wrong. But beside this, there is widest range of things that get better in their effect upon life if they are simply done properly.
This in fact is one way to look at the purpose of life, and reason in general upbringing, education and learning from experience. Generally, if not most strictly, personality comes from upbringing, refinement from education and wisdom from our experience in life; all this is to enable us to things in better way; this is what tells the bad from the good, the ignorant from the knowledgeable and the fool from the wise. All measures of civilisation require us to do excel, to transcend from the bestial to celestial, for example, to do better, if not absolutely then at least relatively. And therein, according to common standards, we find our way to excellence in life.

It's VERY true. I have a co-worker who cranks out about 20 reports a week. We have to keep going back and spending time correcting mistakes. I have another co-worker who only gets 12 reports a week done. She rarely has any errors.

It is only true in a particular instance but not to be taken to literally. You can turn every metaphor into some action of what you are doing if you try.

The saying contains an element of truth. It is obvious that there are some things we don't want to do. I can think of quite a few examples of acts that are unwise to carry out.
