Usually people tend to stay away and avoid the person when they are hurt. But on the other hand there's also people that are so attached they wanna continue being friends. The question is who ended it? The guy or the girl? If I break up with someone still loving him I don't think I could be his friend until I learn how to see him with different eyes....

Most of the time she just wants to be nice and sees you as someone who is better off being a platonic friend than a lover. But on the other hand she may still be hoping you can patch things up.Either one can be right because a woman can very well mean it when she says lets be friends even after the break up with no strings attached.
Many say this because they rather have their ex as an friend than an enemy, which I think is a wise move . It is good for both of you. But some ex you just have to keep them far.
If I were you I would see this as a complement .

Many times, it does NOT mean that she wants to remain friends. Saying that she does is a mild way of slipping out of the relationship. It is a way of saving face, or breaking the news that she no longer desires a relationship, but doing it in a way that is gentler to do.

It means she doesn't want to let go of the relationship, isn't ready to move on. It usually doesn't help either partner to get over it, if you try to stay in close touch right after breaking up. Too complicated.

(assuming she called for the break up) it COULD just be that she genuinly feelz what you had together - MiNUS the sex - contains the ingredients of a friendship worthy of preservation ....however, she could be spinning you a line to help soften the blow. MY advice is to be cool about it and get on with your life - time will tell which option is truly applicable

It's not a true break up. She still wants contact with you. She will tell you what she does not want, but will not be able to tell you what she does want. Yeah, go figure.

That means she wants to keep you as a reserve for a booty call. They will lie and say it's not so, but it is true.
