i have a windows 2000 pc and when playing music or downloading songs when i play the songs the music is to fast how do i explain this well it sounds like chipmonk music do anyone understand what im trying to say , is there somewhere i can fix this or do i need a new sound card please help me im going crazy , please help

What are you playing the music in? A lot of times if the audio app is very selective on things, MP3s encoded lower than 128 or 96 will play really slow, where others encoded over 256 will play faster.
Try installing WinAMP and see if it plays fast in those... if so then try updating your AC97 drivers.
