Yes, Just smack the little **** in the mouth and see if he can call you names with half of his teeth missing. Actually, ignore that, probably not the best thing to do, but it would make me feel better.

Could think of a lot of things worse than being called 'lanky' Take it you are tall? Maybe the word varies in different places but wouldn't be considered verbal abuse here.....usually just means you are tall and slim built. If it really is getting to you just ignore it, the more he sees it's bothering you the more he will use it. I wouldn't try to get back at him with name calling as it's a dead give away that's what you are trying to do. If you think he is meaning to get your back up by calling you this have you asked yourself things like - Is he smaller that you? Is he a bit overweight? In those cases could be jealousy. I am sure there is something you are better at than him, whether it be sport, quizes, computer games whatever you'll know yourself. At some point discreetly organise your mates to be involved in one of these things and skin him alive! Now that wasn't because he called you 'Lanky' was it???

It is not worth to make so big deal out of it. The best way for me is to ignore him and try to show him whatever he is calling you, you do not care. The less you care he won't be interested into teasing you. The more you care, he will feel it and keep annoying you. Probably, as the person said above that guy must be jealous at something you do better than him and that is his way to express it. Try to understand for what he is jealous that you are doing better than him and then when he calls you lanky you answer: "lanky but 'the best in basketball'" for example, where you will replace the thing you are really good in. Just try to learn yourself not to leave him say the last word on you..learn to play skillful verbal game. Or if you are really pissed off you could say: "lanky or not, I am not calling names to the friends I have, so please stop calling that word on me because it is annoying, so if you want to address yourself to me just avoid expressions as lanky". If he starts to joke or whatever, let him be, you have the other friends around you, and do not pay attention to this guy..if he tells you lanky one more time after you told him it is annoying answer to him "the girls really like lanky guys so I suppose you wish you were me :P" hehe..I wish you luck really and do not give so small word to spoil your mood :)

I'm thinking honesty is the best way to go. This sounds immature on his part. I'd say let him know how much you don't like it, at a time when neither of you are joking. If it doesn't stop at that point, you might want to consider dropping the friendship. I don't, however, advise violence or even starting to pick on him in retaliation. That's just juvenile.

Either say 'yes ****' each time he says it OR don't react to it. And start looking for some decent friends.

He's just jealous, he must be short.
Find his weak point and pick at it, if he has any brains he will soon figure out what you are doing.
If not, you may have to spell it out for him.
