If you are taking a beginner ballet class, I wouldn't worry about losing weight or even getting more flexible. If it's a beginner class then the other students in the class will be beginners too. The teacher does not expect you to be flexible or to dance like a prima ballerina. Don't worry about becoming more flexible, but if you want to take yoga, by all means take it. It can't hurt. Ballet is fun and I'm sure you will have a great time. Don't stress about being a perfect ballerina. I'm sure you'll do great in a beginner class!

If you are taking beginner ballet class, they will assume that you need to work on becoming flexible. Yoga uses different poses and muscles than ballet but is a good supplement to it.
Ballet class teaches you a new "vocabulary" of movements and then how to put these together. It has a lot to do with posture but it isn't like anything else.
You might want to rent some videos and see ballet actually being danced and read a book about the actual positions of the dance to get ready.

if you are just taking regular ballet (not pointe) you wont have to worry about shoes. they wont hurt at all or give you blisters. i didnt do anything to get ready for my classes when i started but if you want to you dont need to do yoga if you just stretch every now and then you will be fine.

just stretch out to increase your flexability. yoga would help a lot, but it is also very hard. breaking your shoes in will help a lot too. Whatever you do, don't wear your shoes outside. The ground out there will ruin the bottoms of your shoes.

there is a reason you want to be a dancer. you know it? if not I recommend you to do yoga and ballett ,otherwise your muscles become too onesided. it certainly will support each other
abilities for movement
