I live in Louisville and find it to be a great place to call home. Although in a Southern state, Louisville has a more Midwestern city feel to it. It is also easy to take a day trip to Indianapolis, Cincinnati, or Lexington and Chicago is approximately a 5 hour drive away.

Every city has crime and Louisville is no exception, but in 2006 the homicide rate was it's lowest in 3 years. I'll include a link to the local newspaper's interactive map that shows the areas with the higher homicide rates.

Louisville is a liberal city, but Kentucky is a conservative state. The neighborhood that is considered to be the most liberal in the city is the Highlands, located on Bardstown Road north of Eastern Parkway. The conservative areas are the far south suburbs and Oldham County to the northeast.

One of the nicer things about Louisville is it's highway system. Interstates 64, 65, 71, 264, & 265 are a part of Louisville's road system and Louisville has low commute times. Besides lower commute times, Louisville's cost of living is significantly lower than New York's. If you want to live within walking distance of downtown, there are several newer condominium and apartment developments in the Central Business District.

Some of the more popular attractions are the Louisville Zoo, Louisville Science Center, Muhammad Ali Museum, Frazier Museum of International History, Louisville Slugger Museum, Kentucky Derby Museum, Churchill Downs, The Speed Art Museum, Rauch Planetarium & Gheens Science Hall, Thomas Edison House, Locust Grove & Farmington Historic Homes, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Kentucky Opera, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Louisville Ballet, & the Louisville Orchestra. There is also the downtown development 4th Street Live (which was developed by the same company that did Baltimore's Inner Harbor) and the extensive park system designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (who also designed New York City's Central Park).

Louisville does have a bit of a slower pace than New York, but it is a very comfortable place to live.

i've got made the circulate to circulate from D.C. to Chicago. i've got enjoyed my decision. you be attentive to remember what college you visit you will aways assembly new human beings and acquaintances. You acquaintances spectacular now won't be your friends 5-10 years down the line. you may connect a sorority or fraternity, student government or events group, or maybe diverse type time. Your "acquaintances" excuse is like that of "the lady pal or boyfriend" excuse. you ought to do what's nice for you, your profession objectives, existence objectives, and your needs and desires. no longer theirs.
