Trying to remove the float but having trouble freeing the pin. Not an area i feel comfortable getting aggressive, any tips?

On most the pin just slides or pushes out with a small amount of pressure( pushing not hitting). Some carbs have a small phillips screw that holds the pin in place, be sure there is not a retainer screw before pushing too hard.

An automatic center punch is the safest tool to use, to remove the float pin. It puts just enough force to move the float pin, but not enough to do any damage. Tapping it out with a hammer and punch - there's a chance of breaking the posts.

Use a small punch or nail and lightly tap it out.
