if u are a beginner, a 600 is too much bike for u. if u dont want to listen to reason, u will find it out the hard way when the bike tells u that u cant handle it.....and it will. guarenteed it will.

By best what do you mean?

For a sport bike with a little more comfort I would recommend the F4i, ZZR, Sv650, etc

If you are looking for a sport bike for the street any of the big four (yam, kawi, Honda, Suz) are good bikes. Sit on them and pick the one you like. They are all about the same.

As for racing I like the kawi, or Yamaha because they are cheaper to repair than a Honda or Suzuki.

They are all great and any of those 4 will have more performance ability than you will likely ever use.

Have fun and ride safe.

The best comes down to preference. Your preference to be exact. You need to get some 600s' in mind and then go out and test ride them. See which is more comfortable for you. You want the bike that's best for you, not everyone else.

Personally, if I was getting a 600 I would get a Yamaha R6. However, if you ask my husband he'd tell you Suzuki.

It just all comes down to preference and comfort.

Sport bike or cruiser? Be more specific. Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki all make good reliable bikes without breaking the bank.

it depends on what you are looking for in a bike. but, you can't go wrong with a gsxr 600.

edit: don't listen to vf29... he doesnt know what he is talking about. I was pretty underwhelmed the first time I rode on a 600. Almost everyone I know who rides started on a 600.... the people who went smaller quickly sold the bike to get a bigger one. The front wheel is not going to come off the ground by accident on a 600. Also, you are not going to loop the bike by accident on a 600; the engine is not powerful enough for that.
