It depends on the individual. Some people leak before birth, some after. The fluid that comes out before birth is not milk. (I don't remember what it's called, but it's a clear fluid)

I have never heard of a woman not being able to breastfeed if they are not leaking fluid. That doesn't seem like correct information. You need to double-check that with your doctor.

Also, if your nipples are sore, chances are you will leaking soon anyway. That stuff is building up in your breasts (that's whay they are sore), so it will eventually have to drain out.

Buy some breastpads to avoid any embarrassing moments.

It is NOT true that if you don't have leakage you won't be able to breastfeed. ~Any~ changes/pains in the breasts and nipples are good signs that your body is preparing to breastfeed. You may not even have leakage after the baby is born, a wet shirt is not a requirement to breastfeed :)

Nah...that isn't true.

Nothing usually comes out until after you give birth, but if you are leaking, there is nothing abnormal about that either.

I never had any colostrum leakage until after I have birth.

If you want accurate advice ask the doctor or midwife! Family and friends, as much as you love them, are idiots sometimes. I didn't leak until I had my son and that boy was always full and fat.
