I've got 2002 Nissan Sentra
The fan is working and blowing hot but only if I set the fan control dial to 4.
1,2 and 3 doesn't not work at all
which makes 0 a 3 in my car ;]
What can it be??
I've also struggle with the stereo backlight thats working just from time to time
thakns in adavance for all the answers.

bad blower motor resistor causes this. all fan speeds except for high go to this resistor.
as far as the stereo back lights if the stereo works but the lights don't and only sometimes you may have a bad connection to the stereo from the light switch.

The resistor block is burned out. To get slower speeds, the current to the fan motor is routed through various resistors to reduce the amount of power to the fan. When you put the fan on high speed, a relay connects the fan directly to battery power bypassing the resistors.

Check fuses & heater motor, maybe heater switch.
