I have a Nokia 6230i on vodaphone pay as you go. if it is off it wont take messages and when i try to activate messages it asks me to enter a number "enter voice mail number first" - what is this number?

Ring Vodaphone customer services on 191 from your handset and tell them the problem, it looks like you have a pin number on your message box that you will need to activate it, or retrieve messages
if you ring them and the phone is registered in your name, then they can reset your phone to take messages for you.

I'm not sure, but it might be your mobile number. Mine is a Nokia, also pay as you go and this is the number I dial to retrieve my messages.
