I'm a sports fan and i cannot, for the life of me, get why home teams wear their road jerseys at a home game and road teams wear their home jerseys at a road game! I was watching the NHL's Detroit Red Wings play a game and they wore their red jerseys for the road. Then, i was watching the Chicago Bulls play a game where they wore their white home jerseys! Does anybody out there know why teams do this? Who determines what jerseys will be worn that night and where?
The NHL is doing this more and more and the NBA is about to start catching up, i think.

you see this in the NFL from time to time where the home team will elect to wear white when the visiting team has a dark colored jersey, and the game is being played in heat.
Dont know about NBA or NHL.
In any case, the home team would get the choice of which jersey to wear.

It will more than likely depend on the League (NBA, NFL) and the rules that they have regarding home and away jerseys. Some teams have three or different styles of jerseys so the league offices are the ones that make the rules for that.

its usually always been this way in every sport. The home team is the lighter color and the away team is dark. There isnt any rules that say they have to wear a certain color. Its the teams who choose
