Didn't give advice or answer your first question, but glad you have sorted things out and good luck for the future. However I can't agree with the remark about girls are the ones that have to do it.
I was left to pick up the pieces some 23 years ago, and brought up two children on my own, successfully may I add, and they have both made me a very proud father (and grandfather to be in 7 weeks).
Don't know if this was the gist of your first post but just thought I would put something in for the blokes (no pun intended)!!
