the point of sale is the location in a store where the transaction occurs, i.e. the cash register.

Many shoppers are impulse buyers, that is why stores put items on display around the cash register. If they look at something long enough, while waiting in line, maybe they will buy it. Magazines are a good example.

They are the displays you see at the check out counter. The idea is to create "impulse buying".

POS is somthing that appeals to impulse buyers - t's set up where the merchandise is located - like those coupon dispensers in the supermarket
