I am 39 weeks pregnant today and soooo ready to deliver. What in the world can I do? I've been walking a lot (without tiring myself out), have had sex almost every day, and have eaten Mexican food for spice! :)

My cervix is soft and starting to dilate, so I know I have to be close. I'm just so swollen right now that I want to expedite the process. I'm sure some of you guys can relate. Do you have any methods to share with me that might work? I'm getting miserable.

When is your next doctors appt?? Ask your doctor to strip your membranes. That is really the only thing that worked for me.

I know exactly how you feel. I was 2-3 cm dilated for weeks and both of my babies were a week late. Sorry, not what you want to hear. Try Thai food. I had it for lunch when pregnant with my first and went into labor that night. Didn't work with my second. Just enjoy your freedom and nap as much as possible. Work on a baby book or start a scrapbook and leave empty spaces for pictures.

Well your baby will come when its good and ready and not before. If you really want it started why don't you just request to be induced? Its not harmful to you or the baby and if you are very swollen they would probably agree with you.

Please don't try a hot bath as someone suggested. Its not good at all for your unborn baby as they cannot regulate there body temperature. Why do you think birthing pools are all at body temperature? Please don't take there advice.

Actually I cant relate. Both my children were premature and I had prayed to get as far along as you are. However my OB's nurse once told me that yrs ago when she wanted to bring on the onset of labor she squated w her legs as far apart as she could get them and her butt as close to the ground as possible and waddled like a duck. Ofcourse her sister held her hand while she did this incase she was to lose balance. Said it worked and when her husband came home from work she was ready to deliever.

However your baby will come when its ready you shouldnt rush it.

You could try taking a hot bath, I have heard that that can bring on labor. Try squatting when getting out of the tub. But honestly the best thing you can do is walk. Good Luck.

Keep walking! I have never tried this but my cousin lived in Germany and said that they use Goldenseal to help start labor. I am too chicken to try anything like that, but Good Luck!!~

get your bag together
organize and reorganize baby's room
do your laundry
clean your house again
scrub your floors with a toothbrush

these things won't bring on labor but it will get rid of the anxiety u feel because it will take your mind off of it.
