The best example I can give actually comes from television, with the series Popular, in which it's funny to the audience, but the characters are completely unaware (or don't recognize) the humor. These days, dramadies are fading fast because most of the comedic movies are not plot driven but actor driven (Will Farrell, Jim Carrey,etc.).

The Family Stone, it has a lot of drama mixed with a good amount of comedy. But keep a tissue or two handy for the end.
