I am sure it does. But taste in music like in everything else can be just good or bad. Music is SO different and SO varied which makes this world more interesting! And I can accept any kind of it, but in classic music, in punk-rock or even in rap there are quality pieces that you can listen to more and more and never get tired and there are pure commercial bits that are made for one week, and you get annoyed by it hearing it second time. I like music that is high quality, that has meaning and a power over your soul. And I do sometimes find it really "telling a lot" - the fact that person has no taste in music.

What a good question.
Well, I know that doctors have proved that different kinds of music produce different effects in the brain, so I guess it would also stand to reason that a certain type of person would enjoy a certain effect - for example it is said that heavy metal raises stress and agression, perhaps the kind of person attracted by that music might also reflect those traits?
For the record, I love rock music, but I know for a fact that I am such a softy it is not true..... but I think it's the energy that I enjoy, and the incredible talent of the many fabulous guitarists and drummers in that genre.

Some people dress in a certain way to represent themselves but a lot of the time their music tastes come out too. Often I've decided that I won't get on with someone because I assume things about them from the way in which they dress and their music tastes which of course is all stereotypical. Yet a lot of us do it. I think music does reflect our personality in the lyrics and in the way in which it makes us act.

I think so. I'm an RnB girl. I love Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Teedra Moses, Mary J Blige Jagged Edge, Omarion etc, so I couldnt see myself sitting down for a bacon butty with someone who listens to Korn and Limp Bizkit & Marilyn Manson. I just feel we wouldnt have anything in common at all.
I think music is very important because it helps me through alot. The lyrics that some of my favourite artists sing really connect with me and sometimes mesh with what may be going on in my life. When Im sad its really good to get up and dance to them or cry to them. I couldnt imagine lyrics sung by a heavy metal band helping through something, they may make me slit my wrists though.

It seems true. We sometimes care about words, different time sounds have more meaning and sometimes we are only interested who is the performer. Music is the power that possess emotions, pieces of writer and singer personality reflection. We like the song that gives us pleasure or when we can subscribe our feelings under it. I think I missed few other reasons, but... maybe someone other knows more :)...

The type of music u like helps us to tell about u up to a certain extent. Example:
People who love music that are soft are basically soft in nature. If u change yourself in some activities, desires, habits u can see that u have changed to like a different kind of music. Try and feel the difference.

Music is good for us--cheerful, entertaining, etc.
I don't think that what kind of music another person likes would make me think differently about that person. To each his own...
No, I don't think our taste in music reflects our personalities--plenty of people who like rap are good people. Plenty who like classical music (Beethoven, Bach, etc) have been serial killers.
