In most cases... nothing... what changed anyway? She didn't change, it's just your newfound fact that she's gay...
But okay, since you pulled the "suicide" card, we can split this into different scenario...
a) She is gay, but she does not want to be gay - this is tough. And yes, this may cause suicide in some cases, so you have to be supportive. Don't take sides or let your opinion cloud your love for your friend. Just tell her that the way she gets attracted to people is not the basis of your friendship... And be there.. just be there...
b) She is out and proud - then you do nothing...
The part that "she is suicidal coz no girl likes her is a little extreme", if she's just into like, no commitments and stuff, well, you can just research your local lesbian bar.. I'm sure she can find other les also scouting around... Lotsa fun here... But don't look for love...

Everyone made a good suggestion with having her join a gay social group. If you are really a friend, you might think of going with her the first time so she doesn't feel alone. And if you feel uncomfortable about that, have some balls for heaven sake. You're a cop. You're job is protecting & saving lives, right? You can start with hers. Just remember you have a human heart beating behind that badge.
(P.S. hey, i didn't mean that as harsh at it sounded. i want you to know that it is really cool of you to reach out like this for your friend, even if it's a bit funky for you. Americans would trust coppers more if they were a bit like you. Cheers.)

She needs to seek medical attention, and stop being so dramatic. Your life is not over because no one is ******* you at this time. Remind her that strong people wind up in strong, loving relationships. People don't want to be with someone who's clingy, needy...suicidal. She needs to check into a clinic at worst, and at the very least, she needs to seek out a gay and lesbian support group. Good luck.

She's obviously seeking your attention.
Set boundaries to ensure she knows they are not to be crossed. Listen (if you have the time) and suggest she contact a support group. It's sounding as though her 'sexuality' is causing an esteem issue on top. This is common and eventually she'll learn that she can only be loved if she chooses to love herself first.
I wish you luck - it may be a long hard ride.

You are supposed to act like a friend and just be there for her. Dont try to change her because thats not what she needs right now. If she's gay, shes gay. Big deal.

Actually not a lot different than her being straight and no guys liking her, is there? Depression is depression, the treatment is the same: evaluation by a professional, counseling, anti-depressants as needed.

Your friend needs to be in counseling, and she definitely needs a good comunity support group. Why don't you start by refering her to your local GLBT support group. They might have some ideas about how to help her.

1) Why was it necessary to tell us you are a cop? 2) Just talk to her like any friend would do, she obviously needs a little guidance right now. So help her!

You are a cop, and you don't know what to do?
About which? Your suicidal friend, or finding yourself a lover?
You can start by being honest.
