I graduated last year with a BA in accounting. I live in an area where looking for jobs is pretty dismal. I am thinking of moving closer to the Raleigh, NC area to look for work in the RTP. The biggest problem is that I have the education qualifications with little or no job experience. I worked in retail for almost 10 years but only part time to get through college. Where should I look for employment and how do I build a network of contacts since I will be new to the area?

There are recruiters (Robert Half is one) who specialize in finding jobs for Finance and Accounting professionals. You may also want to consider going through a firm such as Accountemps or Accountants Inc. to land a temp assignment. That allows you to investigate different companies and often leads to permanent assignments. Good luck!

You just have to get to work, there is no shortcut, unless you have hookups.
Do you like Charlotte? I think its a nice place to live, its in NC, and jobs should be more plentiful.
Try to save some money, and when you move get a job...any job, to support yourself, and so you dont go bonkers waiting for your accounting job.
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!!!!
