Could anyone help? I want to buy a boat/yacht primarily for cruising but would want fair performance. The trouble is I am limited to 21ft length and 3ft draft. Have been looking at Hunter Horizons and Duettes.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

I would look at a Beneteau first 21.7 It is 21.7 feet long, it has all of the grar for crusing, as well as it is a great race boat. It has a lifting keel that goes from 2.2 feet to 5.9 feet. It would not be the best with the keel at 3 feet in bigger winds, but it would be great in lighter conditions. WHen you are in deaper water you can always drop the keel for extra stability. Beneteaus are great boats. It does not come with a head and water tanks as standard, but you can get them fitted, although it won't be an enclosed head, but it would be still there if you need it, and most 12 foot boats do not have an enclosed head. If you can go to the first 25 footer it is a little bigger, and it has a stove, a fridge and a head so it is more set out for cursing than the 21 footer. I don't know of any good 21 foot crusing yachts the 25 footers are more conftible.

Are you looking for new, or previously owned? If previously owned is your choice, I'd suggest you try to find an S2. They were made by the Slickers brothers, near Holland, Michigan. These are the same folks who make Tiara powerboats. The S2 was extremely well made, and pretty quick too. They made one in a 22 foot length.

I agree with other poster. S2 is the top choice.
