6 weeks pregnant, Do you guys think it is safe to go bowling, even with a very light 6lb or 8 lb ball? Also, what about having the radio loud in the car? (i don't want to sound silly, i just don't know because i've never done this before) And, hey.. any ideas/suggestions for things to do (places to go, besides the movies...lol) for us to spend time together without possibly causing any problems with this pregnancy? Any tips would help... :) Thanks a mill...

It is perfectly safe to go bowling, as long as your's is not an "at risk" pregnancy. I went bowling at 38 weeks pregnant (hoping the activity would put me into labor, which is didn't). You can also have the radio loud in your car, as long as your not talking about wall shaking loud. Farther along in your pregnancy, when you begin to feel your baby's movement, he/she may even respond to the loud noises (like music) outside the womb.

With spring on the way, I would suggest that you and your fiancee spend as much time outside as you can. Take walks, go swimming (it REALLY helped me with backpain later in pregnancy), and have picnics. They are cheep(or free) activities that are great for "us" time.

Congratulations on your baby!

ask your doctor about the bowling. IMO, don't put the radio up too loud, because you will damage your own hearing, and when the baby is born, and in their carseat in the back, you will turn up the radio just to hear it, and it will be pounding loud on the newborn's fresh ears. Get used to quiet sounds. Now is a good time to buy some classical orchastra music. If you play anything loud, that would be the thing to play.

Fun things to do:
See a movie at the theater
See a movie at home.
Board games (scrabble, scattergories, mad gab)
Yahoo answers
Cooking (this is a lot of fun to do together!)
Talking about child raising
Reading a book together (what to expect when you're expecting is a great book)
Facials (not just for slumber parties anymore!)
Learn a forgien laguage together
Do Sudoku together

The problem with bowling is that you move in weird ways that may not keep your pelvis and other areas aligned properly. Because your ligaments etc are soft they are more likely to go farther than they should and cause injury etc. It WILL NOT hurt the baby.

Personally hubby and I go and walk around the mall or bookstore. We grab an expensive coffee and just walk and talk around the mall. Or mostly read at the bookstore (or now that we have a toddler chase him around the bookstore).

Also check your community calender you would be surprised of the number of small neat events that go on just for a day or two. I have found listings for cider making, pioneer baking, sewing, art, etc, etc.

The radio is ok. At this point baby can't hear yet, plus when they can, sounds are muffled and distorted and much quieter as the sound has to travel through you first. I went bowling while prego, but if you are on restrictions for any reason then I suggest not. Or if you are uncomfortable with stretching ligaments it may cause more discomfort, but it won't hurt the baby just you. Other suggestions are your local museum, art gallery, parks and trails, check your local park system for trails. Check online for things to do in your city/community.

Bowling is fine, I did it the other night and I'm 15 weeks. Just use a lite ball and dont bowl tooo much. If you start feeling crampy or strained then stop.
