I don't believe its propaganda at all.
This is a depiction of one of the greatest examples of sacrifice in Military History.
The magnitude of the resolve of the Spartans, serves us all today. As America allows a voluntary military--it was an honor to serve in your nation's military during ancient times.
Many of our national problems would be minimized through mandatory conscription. America's hard core gang members and its prison population should be used to quail our international problems via Military service.
The Spartan sacrifice illustrates selflessness in times of national emergency.

I think the movie 300, while visually spectacular, touches a sensitive nerve in modern society. The movie sets up the battle between the Persians and Spartans as a battle between good and evil. The movie contained numerous lines and scenes that have an uncomfortably familiar feel. The way in which the Persians are portrayed is quite demeaning to a very rich culture. Its disheartening to see a movie display one of the most powerful empires in all antiquity in such a demeaning way. I had hoped that the filmmakers would have been a little more respectful towards Persian culture but sadly this movie, like most warnographies, needs only violence and sex to sell itself.

People just need to know that it's a movie and wayyyyy overeggagerated and is nothing compared to what it was like for real. Like the depiction of the Persians were terrible... then scene's like the small group pushing a million, haha, sooo fake.

I think that the conservative spin machine is at it again -- trying to come out as "the victim" of the imaginary bogeyman they call the "liberal media." It's just a film, for God's sake. The more these neo-con zealots bring up points like this, the more culpable it makes them seem.
