I think the show kind of fell off after Fantasia's season...any constructive thoughts are welcome.

Well now that we got grammy winners and oscar winners coming out of there, not to mention the fact that it is a huge money making juggernaut, looks like it won't be cancelled. It seems like very year the standard gets lower and lower.

I agree with you. I have disagreed with every winner after Fantasia. Although Carrie Underwood is very talented and deserving, I thought Bo was the better performer and more versatile singer. And its just gotten worse since then.

I think it will be a very long time (okay, like five years or more) before they ever cancel American Idol. It is the biggest money maker FOX has and now that they've introduced the whole *giving back* thing, theres no way they're going to give this show the axe.

It still brings in 30+ million viewers for every aired show. Thats a least twice a week, sometimes three times a week.

I watch it, yes.....I'm not really sure I'd care one way or another....if its on, I'll watch...if its not....I'll do something else.....But this train, hasn't run out of steam yet....

I feel the same way. Actually, after Ruben and then Fanny came and brought life back to the show. I don't even watch until the last 3 people are dueling it out. This season, they should just give Melinda some studio time and let her just drop an album. There are only two people it would be against and that's Melinda and Lakiesha. Let's see how that pans out.

Well some seasons are better than others. But when the show started, i was in 8th grade. i graduated last year. So kids that have been watching since the beginning are old enough now to try out and they can discover some real talent. it just happens that sometimes they cant find much.

so no i dont think it should be cancelled.

I think Idol could continue if it would make a few small changes. The first being not allowing the contestants to sing the song of their choice. I think there should be a theme right from the start and then we will really see who can sing and who can't. Secondly, I think it would be better if they had a night where they had to sing a duet.
By changing things a little here and there, people would be more interested.

Yes!!!!!

Then each season, another reality show should be cancelled (and none added) until there are no more reality shows left. What a waste of time--and how cheaply the networks get off--in comparison to having to pay "real" actors.

I think that American Idol is a chance for talented young Americans to show their stuff and for the rest to laugh their asses off watching them get burned by Simon! NO WAY!

Simon is bored out of his mind. Paula is just out of hers completely (of course, I'd be addicted to some controlled substance too if I had to deal with all those twits). And Randy just likes to say "Dawg."

The talent stinks. The host stinks. The entire thing is an exercise in mediocrity. Carrie Underwood is the only thing good to come from that cess pool.

It's definately losing its luster with me. The talent this season is less than spectacular and there really aren't any memorable personalities. If they don't kick it up a notch next season, then yes, I think it should call it quits.
