Here is some Pros and Cons on the systems.
PSP
Pros: portable, great graphics, main menu is like the PS3, surf the web, download music, pictures, and videos to it, psp can be updated.
Cons: most games take too long to load up, you can download media in certain formats, hard to find signal for internet, no "best-seller" game came out yet, only enough games out, not many.
PS2
Pros: decent graphics, best games (God of War is no. 1 right now), controller is not aggraviting, plays DVD without a need of remote, the eyetoy allows you to put you face in some games
Cons: only thing you can download is game saves, hard drive is sold seprately, soon no more games are going to come out for the PS2 (the last great game is said to God of War 2, comes out tomorrow).
Ever good thing has a negative side. So choose wisely. Personality, I would pick the PSP, because it's not coming to a end yet and it's portable.

the psp is a port so that's already a plus, considering it has the majority of ps2 games and you can take it with you. The graphics are on par with xbox and the movies look real good. I'd say take psp
