I am 38 wks preg. and have been loosing plug for weeks. It has increased in thickness and more in last few days. It is just slimy and yellowish clear without blood. Does it need to have blood in it to mean that labor is near.

Many women never see blood. It can either be snotty looking like what you are describing or tinged with blood. It does not have to be both. Congrats on the baby.

No, just mucus without blood is normal for some women. However, some women have bloody show and don't go into labor for weeks. It really isn't a good sign at all. Also, the mucus plug can reform if it is dislodged and dilation doesn't begin.

im not sure i do know that at 32 weeks and 4 days with my first pregnancy i lost my plug and it just looked like bloody clumps i couldnt see the mucus really i thought i was just bleeding and was afraid that my placenta was tearing i went to the hospital within 30 minutes of it happening and they said i was 4 centimeters dilated so maybe ask your doctor to check your cervix and explain why thats what they are there for good luck and congrats on the baby hope this helped!!!1

I lost mine the night before and the day i went into labor. I never saw any blood at all which I thought was strange but I guess it is normal. I also thought it was weird that I started losing it 24 hours before I had my baby because I have always heard about people losing it weeks before. But it worked!

I know that any time your spotting near the end of pregnancy it means the cervix is thinning out but not will all women.
I stopped dilating at a 1cm so i never seen any blood.
