I am a fan of differently spelled names, for both stories and real life but some people take spelling names differently to an extreme like instead of Angelic, I like Anjelic but I only like to change one letter. Like some names were cute when spelled differently to me but some people just spell them all different kinds of crazy ways.
Like instead of Nichole or Nicole they have Nikkole or Nickole (I know a Nickole). Or instead of Tatyana (my middle name which is spelt Tatyiana but you can still prounuce it) they have Tatiunuh or some other crazy spelling. Some names can be cute if you change a letter or two but them crazy spelling make it hard to read. So, if people know they are going to have trouble teaching their child these names and others will have problem prounucing it?
(If I do like a crazy spelled name it's for a book that I write, I would never use it on a child)

For the most part, misspelling names is only cute for the parent (I don't think Nichole wouldn't end up getting teased by kids replacing the Nic with another three letter word). Hiring managers with hundreds of resumes for only one job tend to toss aside odd spelled names (how can you call for an interview if you can't pronounce the person's name?). Do teachers call on kids if they can't pronounce the name either? Do people sending notes to someone they met only once enjoy being corrected for mispelling someone's name because Mom or Dad thought it was cute? Sorry... this is a pet peave and I could go on and on about all the problems such cuteness creates in the world.

My girls are Aaliyah and Aalyssa and people can NOT pronounce their names. I don't understand how hard it is. Aaliyah; now come on there was a singer with the same name. Aalyssa; there's an extra A at the begining. You are still able to pronounce their names. I'm teaching my oldest to write her name right now. I tell her that there is an extra A at the begining because she's extra special. It seems to be working pretty good. Anyways, I agree with you. I do think it's cute to change a letter or two in a name but you should still be able to pronounce it. A few friends from work named their little girls Alivia. I think it's cute

I think that a person that is naming their child is not thinking about how important the spelling is. I think they are thinking about how unique it is! Tells the child they payed special attention to what they wanted for their child! I see nothing wrong with it. However, I also agree with only changing a letter or 2 to make it their own. such as
Codie Rian = Cody Ryan
Jessacca = Jessica
Lin = Lynn
Tabbatha = Tabitha ...which isnt heard alot anymore
and I am unsure of the correct spelling for Mekha...micah...IDk how it is supose to be spelt...

Sorry. There are plenty of nice names and unique names that do not make you look illiterate and give your child a hard time.
Alivia or Aalivia --- Looks like Saliva blech
Aryn. One step from the Aryan Nation
My name is extremely rare, but it is a noun from the dictionary and easy to pronounce. It is also spelled exactly like the word. Something like Epiphany or Harmony. These are unique words but spelled as they should be.
Try something new like Azalea or even Moon Unit, but make sure it looks like you know how to spell.

my oldest daughters middle name is Aryn. I did this for two reasons. ! becuse I have a sister in law named Erica and I didn't like the spelling Erin. 2 because my hubby's name is Aaron. We talked about it and we both felt it was nice that she have some part of her dad's name.
I think people take it too far on some things. But when you just change a letter or two I don't see anything wrong with it. I didn't really care and still dont' care about what other people think.

People that went all crazy spelling their name are stupid. They misspell the name so much that it doesn't even pronounce the same as the original name. It's all weird and very hard to pronounce. Just keep your unique name simple and easy to pronounce like my real name Mattimus. Knight is my nickname because I have a knight tattoo in the middle of my chest.

I agree. When I write stories (I have yet to finish one... lol), I pick really long complex names, but when I think of what to name a kid later in life, it's not as complicated...
Like Rayna Josephine Elizabeth Reynolds-Smith (I just made it up, but you get the idea)
Amilyn Nicole (and what ever the last name)

Katianna Acurri
Sophia Alianna
BOys
Lawrence OrenIII
Jorrdan Matthew II
Mikel Christopher Lee (pronounced Michael)

I agree with you regarding unusual spellings. If the person has to pronounce the name or spell it all their lives, YOU got the uniqueness you wanted. If they have a homicide reported at an address because of this, don't blame the kid!

I am not sure there is an actual question here. I like differently spelled names too as long as they aren't too crazy. I met a boy named Aeryk(eric) I thought that was kinda cool
