There seem to be some very heavy ideas ingrained in these shows. I am no philosopher, but I percieve heavy emphasis on the concepts of autonomy, determinism, and approaches toward various ethical dilemmas. The antagonists and protaganists in these shows seem to trade places from time to time, and grapple with some political philosophy as well. Ultimately, the viewer seems invited to make their own judgements, which I prefer to being told what is right or wrong.
These shows make me think that there is hope for syndicated television after all. What do you all think?

They are designed to make you think like much of William Shakespeare's works. The idea is for people to form their own opinions and then it can be discussed and various ideas that are similar but different can pyridine together creating even more meaning.

That is what theater is supposed to be about not Paris Hilton.

SciFi writers are the biggest moralist on the face of the earth. They will sneak in their belief system every chance they get. I'm not passing judgment. It just the way they are.
