Here's a fact not many people know. The World Cup final last year was watched by 17 million Americans (12 mil. on ABC and 5 mil. on Univision). That's more than the NBA final, close to the World Series, and 4 times the Stanley Cup final viewers.

Football and Soccer are two different sports to us. We love football. Very demanding, very manly, lots of brute strength and what some may term violence involved. Soccer is much more timid and does not turn us on much. The school kids play it because its less agressive than football, and less injuries. But we don't really have any pro teams except in the Olympics.

The rest of the world still feels they are behind, but not that far. They have made ground and closed the gap. They still do not have the respect of a lot of world powers. A big reason is the lack of a true fan base in the U.S., American sports fans just don't see futbol (soccer) as a priority, this really hurts the National team.

Indifferent. I don't understand why so few people in the US follow soccer. I watched Dallas play Columbus over the week end in a stadium that was 3/4 empty. I think as kids who are playing soccer now get older their will be more interest in the game.

Football (soccer) is considered as a women and children's game. It is not physical enough, not fast enough, not violent enough for average American tastes. And furthermore, it is too continuous a play with no break for any American to play. They need stop and go sports like American football.

What American people are missing is the beauty of the game. Football is game of individual skill and team work; not constant barrage of score like in basketball; not constant head butting like American football; not slow-stop and go like baseball and not blood dripping violent as ice hockey.

Money, the players are so rapped up in money, that they seem to be loosing what the game is all about.. but it's not just the players it's the whole market.. it's all about money!!! and being the best of the best by using drugs so they can be the best.. so they can make lots of money.. Does anyone have natural talent anymore? to be a good player now you have to take drugs? ? Those are my feelings.

Most think it's boring to watch.
There are a lot though who enjoy playing for fun but cannot stand to watch it.
Then there are some who can find enjoyment in watching it, but don't really pay any attention to it.
And then there are the people who absolutely love everything about it.
