On Deal or No Deal the contestants are usually on the show for approximately 2-3 weeks before they are chosen to sit in the chair. What I want to know is how do they arrange this time off from work (if they work). They must have a very supportive boss to allow them to take all this time off work to appear on a TV show.

A friend of a friend went on it. They film a few days in one day (they have to bring a few changes of clothes).

I dont know about you, but my job allows me up to 5 whole weeks a year off.

Did you know that Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune only works like 16 weeks out of the year?

Most game shows, they tape more than one episode a day....more like four or five....they spend 10 to 12 hours a day, for 16 weeks shooting episodes and then they are them over the course of a season.......Unless a show is shown live, you can pretty much be sure that its been taped in advanced over the course of one day..

Shows usually tape 5 shows in one day. So 2 to 3 weeks of shows are actually 2 to 3 days in "real time".

I'm sure that if someone was on vacation, they could coordinate that kind of time away from work.

Also, if they LIVE in the area, it might be easier to pull it off. (ie: work at night, go to game show tapings during the day)

Like most game shows, they film many episodes all on one day, one after the other. They can film a whole week or more in a standard 8-hour day. So, they're really not taking that much time off.

I know that some people have quit their jobs just to get on the show, but i think they must do quite a few episodes in one day of filming.

is it truly a 2-3 week thing or is it like family feud where all the episodes are done in one day and aired across a few days to a week. i don't think anyone could afford to stay in a hotel that long, or off work.

They actually don't go for that long. They film daily for long periods of time they may actually film 2 or 3 shows in one day, they drag out the actual telly time with commercials etc.

Really?? Geez... My boss wouldn't be that understanding and I couldn't afford to miss that much work.

It's a gamble I guess. They're hoping they'll win big enough to counter the costs of having to wait around to be chosen.
