I have cleaned the heck out of it many times. It was given to me by someone and I cleaned it really good when I first got it before I even used it. And then I have cleaned it more and more too but it still makes a dirt smell especially after it runs. What can I do to make it stop?

White vinegar is great for bad odors. Try adding a lot into the soap place and run the disher. Another remedy (DONT use it together with the vinegar, though!!!) is Baking soda... but try first the white vinegar and you'll see.

I wash my plastic recipients with it, and there is never an odor. It is so good to cut grease as well..

You said you 'cleaned' it. Just the inside? Or have you ran a cycle with your regular detergent and some bleach? Or add baking soda and vinegar. Sometimes they just smell musty and the previous suggestions take care of that. Also... I don't shut my dishwasher all the way. That way there is not moisture 'sitting' in there.

you do not explain how you cleaned it inside with a rag or what? but try using a half gallon of bleach withequal amount of water, pour it in by hand and let it run. it might be the pump which has something in it. you may have to do this more than once.

Lemons, they take care of most smells. Squeeze the juice in and see if that works, I've heard it does.

Throw bleach in it and run an empty load.

I would try plain bleach. run it using hot water without putting any dishes in it.
