Yes, your immune system is lowered a bit while pregnant. It drives me crazy but it is your body doing it's job. I am 20 weeks pregnant and never got sick until pregnant. Usually the stuffed nose (runny nose) is due to increased levels of estrogen.

It is very easy to get sick while you are pregnant because your immune system is working harder than normal to take care of your baby. Also, overall your whole body is working harder to create that baby, so you energy is low too. Very common. I am 36 weeks and I have had two very nasty colds and the part that really sucks is you tend to stay sick a little longer when you are pregnant. When you combine this with not being able to take anything, it really can be miserable. Good luck to you. Stay away from sick people and wash your hands frequently, this will help.

Oh boy! Pregnancy is a time when hormonal changes occur. This affects the autonomous nervous system consequently upsets immune system. Pregnant women are predisposed to infections like cold, but any doctor will advice you liquid diet and a lot of rest. While buying OTC products from a pharmacy be careful. Remember, it may affect the baby.
Pregnancy is also a memorable time; enjoy it. The illness will clear soon. Cheer up

2 things:
1) Your immune system is lower when pregnant. It seems like a cruel twist of fate, but it's true.
2) Your nose will be stuffy regardless of whether you have a cold. The body is getting your mucous membranes ready for delivery and moistening everythign up. Apparently it's not savvy enough to distinguish between your vagina/cervix and your nose. So start carrying tissues around!

Well, your sinuses become more swollen during pregnancy, due to more blood, and increased blood circulation.
I would be inclined to think that this is just a pollen allergy. It is hitting lot of people right now...pregnant or not.
However, later in pregnancy your nasal passages can really get swollen. My nose was stuffy for the last 3 months of pregnancy.

Actually you're quite healthy when you're pregnant. Some women get little colds and what not as symptoms of pregnancy but thats not usually due to an outside germ... that's usually a reaction in your own body. Of course you still need to be very careful to not be in contact with sick germs.... but a pregnant woman is very healthy... as her body knows it has to keep the little one safe and healthy.
