There's a pretty good sized space between the basement door and the patio in a house we are considering; a couple of inches. The area shows no unusual wear or shifting, but it should be filled to keep water out. It's too wide for a regular caulk job. Can anyone suggest the proper way to fill this area?

A piece of tile or strip marble for thresholds.

you might try putting a new threshhold down, but if you have not bought the house yet,get an inspection done on it first because the inspector can tell you what has caused it,and how much it will cost to fix it!
