Both - she was in love and she was loved, she felt happy and she never felt like this before - she wanted to write poems, to grow bonsai and to do everything that makes her and him happy . Once he looked in her eyes and told her how beautiful they are, she looked into the mirror and saw that he was right - love changed her appearance and made her eyes shine :)

beauty is in the eye of the beholder meaning what some think is beautiful is not what others think to some her eyes could be seen as beautiful but to others not so sadly i think the answer is statement one...i think all peoples eyes are beautiful and you can tell if they have love in them or not so i think it is probs statement 2

The phrase is an antimetabole. I've loved this quote since my daughter was born ... that was 17 years ago. She's taking AP Language Arts and asked me if I knew what "antimetabole" meant - I did not. Once she explained the figure of speech, I told her the phrase is in her baby book :-)
