I am reseeding my lawn in front of my house, and I would like to know what kind of grass absorbs the most carbon dioxide from the atmosphere?

Just pick a type that's good for lawns. Rye grass probably absorbs the most carbon dioxide, but it's not a great lawn grass. Besides, the difference between the grass that absorbs the most and the grass that absorbs the least is probably trivial.

I think in theory it would be whichever grows longest. Thus the bigger the plant the more it can absorb because the more air it touches etc.

However trees are far more efficient, so maybe plant a couple when you're reseeding as well. Something indigenous to your area will grow the best and thus be healthiest to clean the atmosphere better.

Also some well positioned trees can save you money in the summer by providing shade for your house, so your house won't get as hot in the summer so you won't have to pay as much to cool it. I realize it will take some time to do this if you get young trees, but think of it as an investment.
