i have noticed that foreign cars do not have horsepower like the cars of america.

US cars usually have bigger engines and some have more HP. The more power you have, then the better the performance. The gas mileage may suffer, but you will have more power to accelerate down the road.

Acceleration is a factor of torque more than HP. Also the gearing will multiply torque, so your differential will help with acceleration too.
