Apparantly a sign went up to inform me of a temporary parking suspension because of a film crew. I did not use my car for four days and did not therefore see the sign. The council say I have no choice but to go to the car pound and pay £200. Is there anything I can do. Any ombudsman I can ring?

What you are gonna do is piss and moan like an impotent jerk and then bend over and take it up the tailpipe!

The film crew in question should be consulting a lot more with local residents and asking them nicely if they could remove their cars from the road on any given advance day of filming, perhaps with a little sweetener of a walk-on role in the background, free tickets to the finished film and a few quid for your trouble and inconvienience.

They should not be using bully-boy tactics and getting the local council to enforce laws on their behalf and clear the streets - they need to be talking to the residents and the people directly affected. That just isn't right. As for what you can do about it, I'm not sure. Me personally, I'd be contacting the tabloid press (Sun, Mirror etc or even your local paper) and seeing if anyone wants to carry this story. If it is as you say, then the film company should be prepared to reimburse you. They won't like the negative publicity. In the meantime, pay the fine and get your car back or they'll crush it. Then start making noises!

i had it a few years ago ,i parked at the road side without knowing it was private and i didnt see the signs .
the car was just being put on the low loader when i arrived and they carried on putting it on even though it was only on by inches .the police were there and could do nothing and it cost me £250 .
i fear that you will have to pay and failure to do say you may have to pay storage .the best bet is to pay and then appeal if you feel you have a case .good luck and i know how u feel .

First of all get your car back as quick as pos, or the cost goes up by the day, then try to get your cash back, sue the film co for not giving you sufficient notice.

my advice would be to pay the charge to get your car back and then dispute the costs, if you don't the charges will go up and up and you might never see the car again.

you will be able to make a claim to get your money back either direct to thecompany or through the courts, but the burden will be on you to prove you were not aware of the restrictions.

if this temporary sign went up after your car was parked you are under no obligation to return to your car until you want to.the council doesn't have a leg to stand on.take them to court if necessary

Complain.

My car towing knowledge rests with no insurance. Like my brother had his car taken for.

I'll look for some loop-holes for you!
