Vanity creates a heart of stone, and acceptance of vanity makes you an ineffectual person. This is the mystery shown to us by C.S. Lewis. Keeping a giving and loving heart may cause us to suffer but teaches us to share, to care and to bear with one another. Be lion hearted like God is and don't buy into what evil has to offer. You burn up evil with a holy heart.

HATRED and UNHAPPINESS makes a heart of stone and by all means fight it. You'll miss your entire life if you just accept it. With so many evils in the world, it will be a hard battle but it will be worth it.

usually fear causes a "heart of stone." fear of feeling something, whether it be pain and rejection, or love and compassion...some people are afraid to feel because they just might end up showing some emotion.

Pain.
If you want relationships, remain vulnerable. However, it is OK to back off and regroup when you've been hurt.
