I just bought an xbox 360 yesterday and i've heard that it has 20gb. I put Need for speed underground on the harddrive. Now when i play, my xbox is saying i have 12gb left. Does the initial setup that xbox makes you do take up that much room. The game can't take up that much room??? So if i had 20gb. how do i only have 12 now??????? Someone please help me lol.

check the section where your game demos are stored. I just deleted a few that came on the system last night and that gave me an additional 2 gigs of space.

We have an Xbox 360. There are a couple different versions of Xbox 360 and the harddrive is different on each of them, so it really depends on which one you have. Now, as far as how much memory it takes up on the harddrive for each game it is different according to the game. My husband has several games.
examples-
Test Drive Unlimited- 2mb to save game
Project Gotham Racing 3- 350 kb to save game
Madden 07- 6mb to save game
NCAA Football 07- 8mb to save game

He usually trades in the games that we beat and deletes that particular game from our system when we are done with it.

do you have demos or videos on ur dashboard cuz maybe that could be the problem. you may have dowloaded demos, videos, pics, backgrounds, or even music maybe that's why you have so little left. if not, go to where you bought ur 360 and tell them what's going on

Well first off they come pre-loaded with alot of CRAP on them. Then your profile takes up some space. I know I took some of the crap off mine and it grew to a lot more space in that way.
