I've done ctrl+click for many songs, but when I click to change the genre, it switches to just one song. I've got to change the genre for about a hundred tunes, and one song at a time is taking too long! There's got to be an easier way. With Windows Media, I just highlighted a bunch and when I changed one song's genre, it changed all the songs I highlighted.
Thanks very much!

Select them all again like you've been doing, but then right click the selection, and click "Get Info". It will ask for confirmation to edit multiple item information. Accept it, and you'll get a box with several options on it, one of which will be "genre". Change the genre, and make sure to mark the checkbox beside it, then hit Ok.

They should all change.

There should be no reason why that wouldn't work on iTunes. It works fine for me. Right click the mess of songs and click "Get Info". Type the desired genre and make sure the box is checked.

Voila.
