Quick and the Dead, several good gunfights with subtle special effects by Sam Raimi. There wasn't one particular gunfight that was so great, it was just the whole movie and the idea of a gunfight tournament. Good stuff.

I second the gunfight in Heat. You got to see it from every angle. I think that's what made it so amazing.
I also enjoyed the gunfight in the beggining of T2 when Arnold's rescuing John and the T1000 is chasing them in the 18 wheeler.

heat hands down fully automatic gunfight with polices if you pay attention you can hear the report echoing off the walls of the building aside from the opening scene in private Ryan it has to be the most intense single scene Ive ever seen

Best Gunfight ever!!!
The gunfight at the O.K. corral in Tombstone.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!
It was shot in a way that you felt like you were there.
2nd best? anyone?
The fight at the river (in the same movie) when Wyatt kills Curley.
Possibly another great is in Pale Rider when Clint Eastwood wipes out all the bad guys. Check out his pistol with the replaceable cylinder !

while i like the gu fight at the end of LA confidential--i think the best gun fight ever filmed is after the bank robery in "Heat".
Michael Mann directed this flick--and with DeNiro, Pacino, Kilmner, Sizemore--it certain to be a great flick. But the gun fight is so intense. It lasts nearly 10 minutes on the film. The handgun and machine gunfire between the cops and the robbers is definately hollywood...but so very real for these serious criminals. Bloody, loud, long, detailed action shots from both perspectives, scary and vivid...good guys and bad guys die, a few cicilians. Intense, intense, intense. Rent it and watch it again--if you haven't seen it already.

I agree with those that said "Purgatory". Other faves of mine would be from "Tombstone" and the final shoot-out John Wayne has in "the Shootist". "Tombstone" has several good shoot-out scenes in it, from start to finish. There's not one that stands out....they're all classic in their own sense. I'm a huge John Wayne fan, so I love anything of his. However, most touching is the final one in "the Shootist". Talking classic would be with Bruce Dern in "the Cowboys" though. That one was rough!!
EDIT: I almost forgot about the shoot-out scene in "Open Range". That definitely has to be a best. Especially when Costner walks right up to him and BAM....the shot to the head. I'd say that whole scene has to rate as one of the best!!

Purgatory with Sam Shepard and Eric Robertson was so cool.
The 4 gunmen were Wyatt Earp, well I can't remember them all but it was a very entertaining movie. You should check it out.
